Finlay Redwood and Lauryn John Baptiste brought more winner’s medals to Hackney City Tennis Club last week when they won the Mini Orange County Finals. Players from across the county competed in mini orange area tournaments throughout the summer. Winners and runners up of each tournament were then invited to a county play off at the end of the season.

In the boy’s event it was Finlay, aged 9, who gave an impressive performance. He won all his matches in the round robin stage and then faced Piers Le Fond of Ealing in the final. Finlay held his nerve to win in 2 tie break sets.

Lauryn, aged 8, also won all her round robin matches. She went on to play the winners of the other 2 groups, Lily Clarke and Alexandra Makharova, both of whom train at Westway High Performance Centre. Again, Lauryn remained focussed and won the county title in convincing style. Lauryn also reached the semi finals of the mini green county competition and to round off a very successful run of form, she was a winner of a mini green tournament, sponsored by ‘Head’ and held at Tripletts Tennis Centre at the weekend.
